As some areas are seeing a wintry mix, several school districts are delaying start times for Wednesday morning, Dec. 11, 2019.
The following schools are delayed for two hours:
- Catoosa County Schools
- Chickamauga City Schools
- Dade County Schools
- Fannin County Schools
- Gilmer County Schools
- Walker County Schools
- Whitfield County Schools
A winter weather advisory is in effect for several counties in northwest Georgia until 5 a.m.
Although snow may not accumulate on roadways at lower elevations, with overnight temperatures in the upper 20s, patchy black ice will be likely - especially on bridges and overpasses.
11Alive will continue to monitor weather conditions throughout the night.
Drivers will need to slow down and use caution. The rain will move out early Wednesday morning as the cold air starts moving in.
Editor's note: This story previously listed Towns County Schools as one of the districts on a 2-hour delay. As of 12:40 a.m. Wednesday, The school district said they are following their regular schedule.
