EF-1 Memorial Day tornado moved through part of Coweta County, NWS says

The path length for the brief tornado extended about 3.48 miles.

COWETA COUNTY, Ga. — The National Weather Service said preliminary information shows that an EF-1 tornado moved through Coweta County on Memorial Day.

Surveyors determined a brief tornado started near Payton Road and Boone Road in northwest Coweta County east of Chattahoochee Bend State Park. The storm brought down several trees and damaged some homes in the area.

The tornado then went east-southeast along Boone Road, where additional trees were brought down. The preliminary information shows that the 100 block of Boone Road sustained the most intense damage, with dozens of trees coming down, including some on homes. The maximum estimated winds were 90 miles per hour.
