ATLANTA — Georgia Power crews are heading to Texas to help those affected by Hurricane Beryl.
After tearing through the Caribbean as a Category 5 storm, Beryl made landfall in Texas as a Category 1 hurricane on Monday morning.
Nearly 3 million homes and businesses, and infrastructure, have been damaged, leaving millions without power. Beryl has since been downgraded to a tropical storm, but that designation did not lessen the destruction left in her wake. On Monday evening, Georgia Power dispatched 20 crewed vehicles to the affected area as part of a state-to-state mutual aid agreement between utility companies.
