ATLANTA — Severe weather is expected in most of Georgia on Tuesday, with the threat of heavy winds and rains starting to develop overnight. Several school districts are preparing for inclement weather by adjusting school schedules on Jan. 9.
District leaders said they will continue to monitor the situation and provide additional information if circumstances change.
Here is a list of school systems that will be closed on Tuesday:
- Banks County School District
- Griffin-Spalding County School System (No students should attend, 12-month employees should report at 10 a.m.)
- Habersham County Schools
- Jasper County Schools
- Putnam County Charter School System
- Troup County School System
- Rabun County Schools
- White County School System
- Lumpkin County School System
- Stephens County School System
- Franklin County Schools
- Hart County Schools
- Pike County Public Schools
- Lamar County Schools
- Madison County School District
- Butts County School System
- Greene County School System
- Thomaston-Upson Schools
- Pickens County School District (NEW CLOSURE: Was only going to be on delay)
These schools will begin Tuesday, Jan. 9 on a delay:

- Gordon County Schools (2 hours)
- Heard County School System (2 hours)
- Union County Schools (2 hours)
- Dade County Schools (2 hours)
- Walker County Schools (2 hours)
- Murray County Schools (2 hours)
- Whitfield County Schools (2 hours)
- Fannin County School System (2 hours)
- Floyd County Schools (2 hours)
- Chattooga County School District (2 hours)
- Polk County School District (2 hours)
- Rome City Schools (2 hours)
