Person working outside struck by lightning survives, Troup County deputies say

It happened on Old Airport Road in LaGrange. Authorities said that the victim is "alert and breathing" after the strike.

LAGRANGE, Ga. — A person who was struck by lightning survived while working outside in LaGrange Wednesday, according to Troup County Sheriff's deputies. 

It happened on Old Airport Road in LaGrange. Authorities said that the victim is "alert and breathing" after the strike.

Deputies said that the person did not have to be transported to the hospital. 

This comes after severe storms move through the Peach State. 

A severe thunderstorm warning and tornado warning has been issued for the Troup County area. 

Authorities with the sheriff's office said that the area also experienced spotty hail. 

A tree was also reported to have fallen on Corinth Road, according to deputies. 

The sheriff's office has reported minor damage to the area as storms move through.
