ATLANTA — The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF1 tornado touched down in Cherokee County during the storms that moved through Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
According to them, the tornado touched down at around 12:19 a.m. and ended at around 12:21 a.m. on Dec. 30.
Officials estimate the path to be approximately half a mile long with wind speeds as high as 90 miles per hour.
The National Weather Service added that several trees were uprooted and a large trampoline was thrown 150 yards into a neighboring home. At the beginning of the tornado's track, damage was done to a home and a tennis court.
As it moved along, a small barn and RV were destroyed by the numerous falling trees causing by the tornado. A home along Rolling Hill Place Drive also had a tree fall on it.
Two other tornadoes were confirmed from the same evening/night, an EF-0 in Hall county and an EF-0 in Bartow county.
