Dorian skirting the NC coast

Will continue moving NE

ATLANTA — Dorian continues to bring hurricane force winds along the NC coast.

As of 11pm Thursday, Dorian's maximum sustained winds are at 100mph with higher gusts, making it a Category 2. It is expected to weaken a little more as it skirts the NC coast.

The center of the storm is around 30 miles off the coast.  Hurricane force winds extend 60 miles out from the center. The storm will still be along the NC coast Friday morning.  It will then move northeast and away from land and out into the Atlantic.  It will run parallel to the US coastline.  It will bring some rough surf to the mid Atlantic region and the northeast.  It is possible that it could bring some tropical storm force winds to the Cape Cod area Saturday.
