ATLANTA — After a spring-like February day on Monday, we're tracking the return of rain chances to north Georgia this week.
Isolated showers move back in on Tuesday, followed by more widespread coverage of rain and a few rumbles of thunder on Wednesday.
Here's what to know about the timing of our rain chances.
Tuesday features a few widely scattered showers, mainly north of I-20. Spotty showers will be possible around the metro area, but they'll be more noticeable across the north Georgia mountains. Despite the added clouds and rain, temps still reach the low 70s. It will be gusty, with some peak gusts around 25 mph.
Wednesday morning starts mostly dry as well. Gusty winds pick up, taking temps into the low to mid-70s.
By late morning, showers and isolated rumbles of thunder start to push into northwest Georgia.
In the afternoon, more widespread shower activity works through north Georgia and metro Atlanta. Isolated thunderstorms are possible. We do not expect severe weather at this point. A few pockets of moderate rain are possible.
The last of the rain clears in the early evening.
Dry weather moves back in Thursday, but rain chances are back Friday and through the weekend.
