Tornadoes, damaging wind gusts, lightning, and flash flooding manifested as showers and storms move through the southeast.

5:00AM: The death toll is up to 23 people, the Associated Press reports.

10:57PM: Authorities confirm that the death toll associated with storms in Lee County, Alabama is now up to 22.
10:44PM: President Trump tweeted his thoughts to the people of "Alabama and surrounding areas."
9:35PM: 11Alive's sister station 13WMAZ in Macon is following reports of damage across central Georgia - including in Bibb, Crawford and other counties.
9:00PM: Video from Talbotton, Georgia shows trees toppled into home and power lines down on the ground.
8:30PM: 11Alive StormTracker meteorologist Wes Peery reports the small town of Cairo, Georgia - just north of the Florida state line, and hard hit by Hurricane Michael last fall - just took a direct hit from a tornado.
8PM: WSFA reports the death toll has climbed again to more than a dozen. They report the Lee County Sheriff's Office has confirmed 14 fatalities associated with Sunday's storms.
7:40PM: Joshua White was able to capture impressive video as a storm rolled through downtown Macon, causing a transformer to blow.
6:50PM: NBC affiliate WSFA reports the death toll associated with Sunday's storms is now up to 10.

5:50PM: NBC affiliate WSFA in Alabama reports two fatalities have been confirmed in Lee County after at least two tornadoes touched down in the Beauregard area. According to reports to WSFA, an 8-year-old girl is among the dead.
5:48PM: All of the counties in 11Alive's viewing area have been dropped from the tornado watch, except Putnam County. The watch remains in effect until 8 p.m.
5:31PM: A flash flood warning is now in effect for Pew Creek in Lawrenceville and Big Creek in Alpharetta.
5:00PM: Georgia Power is reporting that there are 107 active outages right now that are affecting 16,641 customers at this time. Georgia EMC is reporting there are about 6,000 customers without power at this time.

4:39PM: The following counties have been dropped from the tornado watch in effect until 8 p.m.: Clarke, Clayton, Coweta, Fayette, Harris, Heard, Muscogee, Oconee, Oglethorpe, Rockdale, Troup and Walton.
4:31PM: A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Pike and Meriwether counties until 5 p.m.
4:30PM: The tornado warning for Upson County has been allowed to expired.
4:06PM: Tornado warning expired for Greene, Hancock and Putnam County.
4:05PM: Crawford, Monroe, Talbot, Taylor, Upson are now under a tornado warning until 4:30PM.
4:00PM: The tornado warning is canceled for Baldwin County.
3:50PM: A tornado warning is in effect in Baldwin, Greene, Hancock and Putnam counties until 4:15PM.
3:03PM: The storm continues to move through Georgia. The most severe storms have mainly been well south of metro Atlanta. A tornado warning is in effect in Ben Hill, Irwin and Turner counties until 3:45PM.
2:24PM: Snellville Police said in a Facebook post that its phone lines are down. "Please call 911 if you have an emegency," they said.
2:12PM: Firefighters in Gwinnett County put out a fire at a home on Green Gables Court in Buford that they believe could have been caused by lightning.

12:22PM: A tornado watch has been issued until 8PM for much of the metro Atlanta area.

12:06PM: A tornado watch has been issued for several east Alabama counties until 6PM. 11Alive StormTracker Chris Holcomb said that a tornado watch could be issued soon for some Georgia counties south of the metro Atlanta area.
These are the Alabama counties under the watch: Autauga, Baldwin, Barbour, Bullock, Butler, Chambers, Chilton, Choctaw, Clarke, Clay, Conecuh, Coosa, Covington, Crenshaw, Dallas, Elmore, Escambia, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Mobile, Monroe, Montgomery, Perry, Pike, Randolph, Russell, Tallapoosa, Washington, Wilcox
A Tornado Watch means that conditions are favorable for tornado development. People located in and around the watch area should keep an eye toward the sky and listen to their NOAA weather radio or tune to 11Alive for further weather information. The watch is intended to give you time to prepare and review your safety rules.
A Tornado Warning means that a tornado has been detected by the National Weather Service Doppler radar or a reliable report of a tornado has been reported from the field. A tornado warning is usually issued for portions of one or two counties for an hour or less. The storm could also produce large hail and destructive straight line winds. If the tornado warning includes your neighborhood or work place, you should seek safe shelter immediately.
