ATLANTA — We're closing out the year with a chance for flurries and light snow showers in parts of north Georgia.
A weak disturbance will slide in on Friday and may produce some light snow or rain/snow mixed showers through Friday night in far north Georgia, mainly in the higher elevations of the north Georgia mountains.
Temperatures while the snow is falling will be largely above freezing, so it will be difficult for the snow to stick and accumulate. In the highest elevations, up to a dusting of snow may be possible on grassy, elevated surfaces.
At this time, we do not expect flurries or snow showers in Atlanta.
We could also end up with less moisture from this system and little in the way of flurries for anyone.
Along with the chance for flakes, colder air will take hold of the area. Highs on Friday will be stuck in the low to mid-40s with wind chills in the 30s. Overnight lows drop into the 20s (suburbs) and low-mid 30s (city) for the last few mornings of 2023.
