ATLANTA — If it feels like it's been hotter than usual this summer here in Atlanta, you're not wrong. That's because it has been -- and by quite a bit, too.

According to a new CNN study, the 50 most-populated cities in the entire country have all gotten hotter over the past five decades. All of those other than three are experiencing more days classified as "extremely hot" -- meaning the temperature gets above 95 degrees in a day. That data was analyzed by the International Institute for Environment and Development and shared with CNN.

The study also said that if you took America's 50 biggest cities and added up the number of "extremely hot" days, which constitutes days with temperatures of 95 degrees and above, there would be at least 1,071 of those days across those cities this summer. That is 161 more than the average over the past decade, according to CNN.

CNN also compiled a list of the Top 10 cities with the biggest rise in days 95 degrees Fahrenheit or hotter this summer:

  1. Las Vegas, Nevada: 17.5 days above average; 83 total days
  2. San Antonio, Texas: 15.5 days above average; 54 total days
  3. Nashville, Tennessee: 15.5 days above average; 23 total days
  4. Jacksonville, Florida: 14 days above average: 25 total days
  5. Atlanta, Georgia: 12 days above average; 14 total days
  6. Washington D.C.: 11.5 days above average; 18 total days
  7. Baltimore, Maryland: 11.5 days above average; 18 total days
  8. Raleigh, North Carolina: 9 days above average; 20 total days
  9. Albuquerque, New Mexico: 8.5 days above average: 28 total days
  10. Charlotte, North Carolina: 8.5 days above average; 16 total days
