ATLANTA — We're expecting significant rainfall in parts of Georgia over the next couple days - the weekend will be a payoff, at least -- with a flash flood watch that's been in effect since Wednesday morning.
Here's a timeline for what to expect as we brave another rainy midweek before we're rewarded with a beautiful weekend:
Thursday morning
Heavy bands of rain will continue to sweep through the region, and after the rainfall overnight, this will likely be the riskiest time in terms of flash flooding.
The National Weather Service says water in some creeks and streams could rise rapidly, while roadways and other low-lying areas prone to flooding could become rapidly covered with water.
Thursday afternoon
Congrats! After a wet morning, we'll start sailing clear into a Friday and Saturday that promises sun and mild temperatures in the mid-to-high 50s.
By the end of it, Atlanta itself will have likely seen about 1-2 inches of rain, while south of I-20 could finish with about 2-3 inches.
