ATLANTA — The National Hurricane Center is watching 2 tropical waves and one Tropical Depression in the Atlantic.
The first is located in the eastern Caribbean moving to the west. It is expected to continue moving westward and then slow down its pace late week. It is not expected to strengthen until it slows down and moves into the western Caribbean. It has an 80% chance of developing into a tropical depression or storm by the end of the week.
The second system is now a tropical depression. Winds are up to 35 mph. The system is moving very rapidly to the west at 21 mph. It is forecast become a tropical storm within the next 24 to 48 hours. The storm could be name Laura.
There is a 3rd potential tropical system coming off the coast of Africa. At this time, it has a 40% chance of developing over the next 5 days.
It's still too early to tell if there will be any impacts from these systems on the southeast US coast. We will keep tracking them for you.
