(WXIA) -- Three confirmed tornadoes hit Georgia Sunday.
An EF-2 tornado hit Upson County, north of Thomaston, according to the NWS. It produced the strongest confirmed damage so far.
The National Weather Service said the tornado that ripped through Upson County began in Alabama and entered Georgia as an EF-1 tornado with winds of 110 MPH. The tornado reaches its peak intensity in an area north of Thomaston in Upson County. Winds in that area are estimated at 130 MPH, based on damage in the area.
That tornado then moved northeast into Lamar County where it continued to produce damage into Butts County. The tornado lifted off the ground just after crossing into Newton County.
In the Logan's Landing subdivision in Upson County near Thomaston, a sales office was demolished.
Residents nearby ran for cover as the storm moved in.
A tree fell onto a home and into the bedroom of 6-year-old Luke Brundidge and came to rest on the boy's pillow. Luke's father said that the boy usually napped in the bed after church, but Luke happened to not be in bed when the tree crashed.
In all, three homes were damaged, but no serious injuries were reported.
Two additional tornadoes outside the North Georgia viewing area touched down in Monroe county and in Houston and Pulaski Counties. The Monroe County tornado was on the ground for 20.5 miles with maximum winds of 107 miles an hour. The Houston/Pulaski tornado had a path of 6.4 miles with 100 MPH winds.
