ATLANTA — Cold, Arctic air will send low temperatures into the 20s and highs that won't get out of the 40s as schools go back after the long Thanksgiving Holiday break.
11Alive is issuing a Weather Impact Alert for Monday and Tuesday mornings for very cold temperatures and wind chills. Lows drop into the mid to upper 20s with some wind chills near 20 by Tuesday!

The cold Arctic air initially arrives during the weekend, but then another reinforcing shot of cold, dry air pushes in for the start of the work week. This will drop our low and high temperatures to their coldest of the season so far.
We're forecasting a low of 29 Monday morning in Atlanta. By Tuesday, we're forecasting a low of 27. Outside the city, temperatures in the suburbs could be 3 to 7 degrees colder.
Wind chills Monday drop to the low to mid 20s around sunrise. Some wind chills in the 10s are possible in the mountains.
Tuesday, the wind chills drop to the upper 10s and low 20s across the metro area. Wind chills will be closer to 10 degrees in the mountains.
