DeKALB County, Ga. -- A 25-year-old woman is dead after she was shot in Gwinnett County and was taken to a DeKalb County gas station early Tuesday morning.
There were an additional two people inside the car with the victim, Avery Birthrong, and police are interviewing them at this time.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the shooting originated in the area of Five Forks Trickum Rd. and Rockbridge Rd. in unincorporated Stone Mountain.
When shots were fired at the vehicle, one of the three passengers in the car drove off from the scene and stopped at a gas station. There, they were met by officers and were interviewed.
Neither one of the men who were inside the car at the time of the shooting are being treated as suspects.
The gunman is still on the run.
