After delivering a cringe-worthy rendition of the national anthem at the end of Sunday night's NBA All-Star Game's pre-show, Fergie is breaking her silence.
The former Black Eyed Peas singer attempted what appeared to be a slowed-down, jazzy version of the "Star Spangled Banner" to close out the pre-show, but it did not go well.

It got to the point where attendees inside the stadium, including the players themselves, had to try to keep straight faces.
And Internet reaction roundly roasted her for it.
After the criticism, TMZ reported Fergie released a statement, explaining that she has always been a risk-taker artistically and that she really "tried my best."
“I’ve always been honored and proud to perform the national anthem and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA. I’m a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn’t strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best.”
The tone online was much different following the apology, with some saluting the singer for taking a chance (even though it didn't pay off like she'd hoped).
