NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Authorities have uncovered a few new clues in their attempts to identify a body found floating down a local river.
The body of an unknown person was spotted by a fisherman in a Newton County portion of the Yellow River on Sunday.
Now, a Tuesday autopsy has revealed that the body was that of a teen girl between the ages of 12 and 17. Authorities found no identifying scars, marks or tattoos and believe the young woman may have been African American or biracial.
It's one of two major questions the coroner's office and medical examiner's office both hope to answer. The other is how she died. That question, unfortunately, has yet to yield as many clues and neither a cause or manner of death have been determined just yet.
