DeKALB COUNTY -- Authorities have taken a man into custody for allegedly concealing the death of his 88-year-old aunt.
According to police, 37-year-old Charles Frederick Peters hid evidence of the death of Elizabeth Stewart at their home in a North Williamsburg Drive apartment in North Decatur.
A warrant alleged that Peters kept the woman's decomposing body in her bed for about a month. The report also said that the home was filled with scented candles and air fresheners used to keep the odor from spreading where others would smell it.
Ultimately it was the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Unit that arrested Peters on Tuesday for the crime. While the motive was not released, officials did say that Peters shared the residence with Stewart.
