GAINESVILLE, Ga. — A Hall County man is behind bars after an alleged attempt to take a 5-year-old girl from a taxi during a dispute.
Gainesville Police responded to a parking garage on Atlanta Highway Saturday evening for an attempted kidnapping. The caller told police she was a taxi driver who had been approached by an Asian male acting oddly.
According to an incident report from police, 35-year-old Tuan Van Nguyen then took the 5-year old from the taxi. The child's father, who was also in the taxi, forcefully took the child back from Nguyen. The suspect then ran from the scene.
The driver called police, who were able to track down Nguyen in the area. Nguyen was transported to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center for evaluation before being taken to the Hall County Jail.
Nguyen is charged with Criminal Attempt to Commit Kidnapping and Obstruction of an Officer.
