Suspect caught after Rome store clerk killed

When they arrived to the scene, they found the store clerk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He eventually died as a result of his injures.

ROME, Ga. - Police have arrested and charged the man who allegedly shot and killed a store clerk on Tuesday night.

At 8:50 p.m., officers responded to a shooting at the Hi-Tech Fuel located at 500 Burnett Ferry Road.

When they arrived at the scene, they found the store clerk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He eventually died as a result of his injuries.

Witnesses told police that they saw a black male fleeing the scene in a silver Jeep Liberty.

Floyd County Sheriff's Office spotted the vehicle after a look-out was issued for the vehicle and initiated a felony vehicle stop. During the traffic stop, police found a gun and a large amount of cash inside the car.

The suspect was identified as 28-year-old Lamar Rashad Nicholson. Nicholson has been charged with felony murder, aggravated assault with intent to murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
