A 62-year-old woman is dead after a crash in Gainesville, Georgia late Monday night.
According to a preliminary investigation by police there, Lisa Jane Ferrell was heading south on Green Street when she crossed the centerline for unknown reasons and struck a minivan heading in the opposite direction. Ferrell was killed in the crash, police said.
Police are still investigating and posited that either a medical emergency or weather may have played a role in the crash. The accident closed down Green Street for over an hour, police said.
The Gainesville Police Department offered their condolences and prayers to the victim's family.
