DALTON, Ga. -- A 51-year-old factory worker was killed when he got caught in machinery at the Shaw floors plant Monday night.

Jesus Pimentel was killed in the incident that happened at the Shaw Floors Plant 23 in Dalton when authorities say he was caught between two machines. Shaw posted a note on their Facebook page saying in part "our thoughts are with the associate's family and their coworkers."

Shaw Industries Group, Inc. said the health and safety of their employees is a daily priority and has suspended operations at Plant 23 temporarily. They are also providing grief counselors to coworkers.

According to Dalton police, there is no criminal investigation underway. However, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is conducting an investigation.

Over the past five years, Shaw Industries has been the subject of several OSHA inspections that have resulted in more than $50,000 in fines. In an incident on January 20 of this year, an employee at their Bainbridge, Ga. Plant suffered second degree burns on the face, arms and hands while cleaning a blockage.

Shaw is an international flooring company headquartered in Dalton. In 2015, Forbes named Shaw Industries the best employer in Georgia and No. 8 in the nation.
