1 person found dead inside SUV near woods in Cobb County

AUSTELL, Ga. -- Cobb County homicide detectives are investigating after a person was found dead inside an SUV Sunday morning.

Investigators tell 11Alive Cobb County's 911 center received a call around 2:30 a.m. Sunday saying a car had wrecked near the West Place Apartment complex near Six Flags Drive and Six Flags Parkway in Austell, Ga.

The caller told authorities that it looked like the driver, a male later identified as 42-year-old Larry Grigsby of Austell, had been shot. She told officials that there were two kids in the car and she was attending to them.

When officers arrived, they found the vehicle near a tree line off the roadway. Homicide detectives were still on scene after 6 a.m. trying to investigate.

Police are still trying to figure out what led up to the shooting and accident, and have not found any suspects or a possible motive. Officials have not given details on the conditions of the kids.
