BUFORD, Ga. -- A woman's body discovered in Lake Lanier Friday morning by golfers at a local golf course has been identified.
The golfers at Lake Lanier Islands Legacy Golf Course discovered the woman's body off one of the course fairways at about 10:45 a.m. near Legacy and Villa lanes. Authorities do not believe the body was in the water for very long before it was found.
They have since determined that the victim was 53-year-old Tonja Hall of McDonough.
Investigators found Hall's car parked near where her body was found, with some of her belongings -- including her cell phone and identification -- still in the vehicle. A resort employee told police he noticed her car at about 6 a.m. that morning.
The case is under investigation but detectives found no indication of foul play, according to the sheriff's office. An autopsy is pending and her family has been notified.
