CARTERSVILLE, Ga. -- A tractor-trailer driver was killed after a crash that sparked a house fire early Tuesday morning.

According to the Bartow Fire Division Chief, David Levey, at 6:35 a.m. today, a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle were involved in a wreck on Highway 411 near Industrial Park Road.

The tractor-trailer was leaking fuel and it caught on fire which spread to a nearby home. The home was a total loss but the residents inside were able to get out of the house, unharmed.

Bartow County EMS arrived to the scene and said that the tractor-trailer crashed into the passenger vehicle that was parked on the side of the road due to car trouble.

They located a male lying on the side of the the road next to the passenger car with numerous trauma injures. The male was transported to Kennestone Hospital.

The driver of the tractor trailer was entrapped inside the vehicle and unfortunately died.

Power lines are down in that area and Highway 411 were shut down as authorities worked to clear the scene.

Investigators are attempting to determine the cause of the crash.
