ELLIJAY, Ga. -- Seventeen passengers were transported to an area hospital after a school bus crashed Monday afternoon in Gilmer County.
According to Captain Frank Copeland, around 3 p.m. officials responded to an overturned bus on Yukon Road.
While driving on a downhill curve, the school bus traveled onto the shoulder and hit a ditch. This caused the driver to lose control and crash, according to Georgia State Patrol.
GSP said the bus swerved and overturned laying flat across both lanes.
Seventeen passengers were transported to area hospitals with no serious injuries.
Captain Copeland said the bus was coming from Clear Creek Middle School.
