CONYERS, Ga. – One person was arrested on Friday after a Facebook post stated an active shooting was happening at Conyers Middle School.
Derrick Nushunn Belcher of Oxford, Ga., was arrested after Rockdale sheriffs and special investigators tracked the post to him, police said.
“This is a sensitive and serious issue in America, and especially when it comes to our children, we will not tolerate threats to our schools especially through social media,” says Sheriff Eric Levett.
According to police, school officials were alerted by parents in a panic to get their children from the school on Friday. All Rockdale schools were placed under alert.
The post went online around noon, police said.
