Fatal house fire in DeKalb neighborhood under investigation

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - DeKalb County Fire Rescue is working a house fire on the 1100 block of Mayfield Drive early Wednesday morning.

According to an Instagram posted by the department, one adult female was trapped inside the residence and has unfortunately died. The call came in at 3:40 a.m.

The DeKalb County Medical Examiners' Office has identified the woman as Quinette Ludlam who is 71-years-old. She died from smoke inhalation according to an investigator with the Medical Examiners' Office.

DeKalb Fire said the call originally came in as a medical emergency call.

Investigators say there may have been three or four people inside the home at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
