Girlfriend finds boyfriend shot to death in their Atlanta apartment

Atlanta Police said a woman walked in on a grisly murder scene Saturday Morning, her boyfriend was shot to death.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner Sunday released the name of a man shot to death Saturday morning.

Darius Rippy, 46, of Atlanta, was found by his girlfriend in their apartment at Harwell Place, NE.

66-year-old Katie Rutledge walks her apartment regularly. A place she calls quiet.

“I see people when I’m walking. But I don't even know who the person was,” Rutledge said of the victim.

But Atlanta Police are trying to figure out what lead to the fatal shooting of a man around 8:00 AM Saturday.

"The investigators are going to retrace what was going on with this individual prior to us finding him this morning,” said APD Captain Reginald Moorman. “We're going to be speaking with anyone who had any association with him.”

“Bad. Sad. All this turmoil going on,” Rutledge said.

Rutledge recalls a time another victim was found shot to death in her breezeway. Same complex.

Investigators say, that woman, Tychika “Pinky” Hefflin was walking home by herself in October 2016.

As she approached her apartment door, surveillance video showed one of two men jump out of Toyota Corolla that had followed her.

Neighbors recalled hearing a gunshot and Hefflin was later found with gunshots to her neck and torso.

That same video showed the man running away with Hefflin’s purse and jumping inside the Corolla.

As it relates to Saturday’s homicide, police plan to work hard to solve it.

“We’re going to look into goings and comings of the individual,” Moorman said.

As for Rutledge she said she has no fear.

“Cause I got God on my side,” she said.
