GRIFFIN, Ga. — A family of 12 has been displaced after their house caught fire on Sunday, according to the American Red Cross, which is assisting the family.
The fire happened on North 9th Street. Although no one was injured, a firefighter was evaluated for heat exhaustion, fire officials stated.
According to Griffin Fire Chief John Hamilton, the fire originated in the home's kitchen, with some extension into the attic.
According to a press release, Red Cross volunteers responded to the scene as part of the Disaster Action Team to coordinate emergency aid. They provided comfort kits, direct client assistance and recovery planning to the family to help meet their needs.
