Roughly 25 people are out of their home on a cold night after a fire tore through a DeKalb County apartment building late Wednesday.
Fire crews were called to 3379 Flat Shoals Road around 7 p.m. and found heavy smoke and flames already erupting through the middle of one apartment building.
After evacuating the buildings, fire crews began attacking the fire inside. But, as conditions worsened, they were forced out. They moved on to hit the fire from above with ladders where they managed to knock down most of the flames.
Despite a large number of people displaced, no one was hurt.
The Red Cross has since stepped in to provide help to those displaced.
