BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- Monday is the start of the murder trial for a Cobb County father accused of intentionally leaving his son in a hot car today.
The trial for Ross Harris has been moved to south Georgia after the judge ruled it was impossible to find an impartial jury in Cobb County.
It's almost like deja vu - the courts moved forward for roughly a month as attorneys tried to seat a jury in Cobb County. There, they questioned each person individually. Finally, the decision was made to move the trial to Brunswick, Ga. leaving the entire process back at square one.
The small, sleepy coastal town of Brunswick is about to get some big attention. The Ross Harris murder trial gets underway with attorneys hoping that few know anything about the case.
"People in Glynn County probably won't know any more about Ross Harris than I do," one resident said.
He said he only vaguely remembered Harris's name.
The hot car toddler death case received so much media attention that attorneys couldn't find an impartial jury in Cobb County where the alleged crime occurred.
Police said Harris intentionally left his 22-month-old son Cooper in his hot SUV all day while he went to work.
As the trial begins again on Monday morning, hundreds of potential jurors who received a summons will come to the Glynn County Courthouse.
Whoever is seated is looking at six to eight weeks of testimony including Harris's now former wife Leanne who, as far as 11Alive has been able to determine, stands by his story that the whole ordeal was a horrible accident.
11Alive will also hear as prosecutors try to paint a sordid picture of the Cobb County father as someone who yearned to be child free.
They allege he had affairs and was sexting an underage girl on the very day little Cooper Harris died.
Unlike the first go-around, these potential jurors will not be questioned individually but in groups. They will also not be filling out any sort of questionnaire.
