An overnight fire has displaced more than 50 people one day after Christmas.
DeKalb Fire said the call came in around 4:45 a.m. to the Sonoma Ridge apartment complex on Brook View Ave.
According to Captain Dion Bentley, the fire started on the second floor and made its way to third floor of a building. The fire jumped from one floor to the other. Witnesses told 11Alive they were told to evacuate some apartments not affected.
In the end, there were no serious injuries.
Some of the apartments were affected by the fire and smoke, and the others were impacted by the water used to put the fire out.
Fire officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
The Red Cross Disaster Action Team said their volunteers are meeting with the families that were displaced and are "providing over 50 people with emergency assistance for essentials such as food, clothing, temporary lodging and personal care items. Red Cross caseworkers will continue to work with the families to help them get back on their feet, including referrals for recovery resources available in the community."
