DUNWOODY, Ga. -- Quick-thinking officers are credited with saving the life of a driver who flipped their car on I-285 early Thursday morning.
According to Dunwoody Police Sgt. Robert Parsons, officers were directed toward westbound I-285 near Ashford Dunwoody after several calls reporting the overturned vehicle. When the officers arrived, they found that not only was the car flipped over - it was on fire.
Officers immediately grabbed their fire extinguishers and went to work trying to control the flames. They were then able to pull the driver through the passenger-side door.
At this point, police believe the driver left the roadway and struck the guardrail before flipping and catching fire. Luckily, the driver did not appear to have any life-threatening injuries but was still taken to an area hospital for treatment.
