GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Northbound lanes of I-85 in Gwinnett County are completely shut down following a deadly crash, police said late Sunday evening.
According to an alert from the Gwinnett Police Department, the accident happened just north of Pleasant Hill Road. As a result, all northbound traffic is being diverted off at exit 105.
Gwinnett Police said there were three vehicles involved and that one person died. Another person was taken to Northside Gwinnett for treatment of injuries not expected to be life-threatening and two others refused medical care.
Police expect to provide additional details on Monday after their teams complete their investigation.
The Georgia Department of Transportation provided few additional details but showed an expected clearing time of 10:15 p.m. However, the state agency countered the data on its site, suggesting there is no official estimated clearing time and for drivers to be aware.
At this time, all motorists heading north - or expecting to travel that way in the next hour - are urged to find an alternate route.
