ATLANTA — Megan Thee Stallion fans were in for a surprise at her rescheduled Atlanta concert on Sunday, as the rapper announced the release date for her highly anticipated new album, "MEGAN." The announcement came after the concert, initially set for June 1, had to be postponed due to significant water main breaks across the city.
"MEGAN," dropping June 28, will be the follow-up to her critically acclaimed 2020 debut album "Good News," which included hits like "Savage" and "Body." The rapper had teased the surprise with a post on X on Friday, saying there would be a "special announcement" at the show before it was moved.
After Megan announced the news to a sold-out crowd at State Farm Arena, a QR code was shown alongside a special image on the jumbotron screens, according to Billboard, allowing attendees to pre-save the Hot Girl Productions album.
A second show, originally slated for June 1, will take place at the State Farm Arena on Monday, June 3, after being rescheduled due to the ongoing water issues.
The "Big Ole Freak" rapper spoke out several times throughout the weekend about the city's response to the water main break and apologized to fans for the inconvenience.
“Call the mayor! All day, they’ve been telling us we can perform,” the rapper said in a video she posted Saturday.
Even with all the issues, fans in Atlanta and worldwide are marking their calendars and eagerly awaiting the self-proclaimed H-town Hottie's sophomore album.
