ATLANTA — Atlanta Police and officers near Georgia State University’s downtown Atlanta campus were preparing the streets for a huge television production coming to the area.
“DMZ” is an upcoming series for HBO Max by “Selma” director Ava DuVernay. Earlier this month, we shared news about casting, now crews are beginning to film scenes for the show starring actress Rosario Dawson.
The A-Scene went to Decatur Street, where trailers and production crews were setting up catering and sets leading up to Underground Atlanta.
Crews nearby did not want to talk as they were working, but we did find a filming notice about the project.
Backlight Production will be filming in the area from Thursday, February 27 until Saturday, February 29.
“DMZ” is based on a 2005 Vertigo comic book with the same title, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The series is about Manhattan becoming divided following a civil war.
Dawson is announced to appear as Alma, “a fierce medic who saves lives while desperately searching for her lost son.”
Just last month, DuVernay was in Atlanta promoting her upcoming anthology series, "Cherish The Day," which airs on the Oprah Winfrey Network.
