ATLANTA — This Labor Day weekend has been jam-packed with things to do.
There's Dragon Con, Atlanta's Global Black Pride, and the University of Georgia vs. Clemson University opening football game.
It brought large crowds, but it seems visitors have figured out how to navigate.
Sheila McKinnon said she's been to Dragon Con a few times. So, this isn't her first rodeo.
"It's always people, who, it's their first time and they have no idea. And you can see they have kind of the deer in headlights look of 'what have I come into?'" McKinnon said.
McKinnon traveled from Huntsville, Alabama. She said the trick is not to wait until day one to show up.
"We came Wednesday," McKinnon said. "We parked at the hotel. So, it's expensive, but at least we knew we'd have a spot."
McKinnon said her family walked from the hotel to avoid traffic.
A good chunk of the crowd is from Atlanta, which is notorious for heavy traffic. At some points on Saturday, it took twice as long to get downtown.
Atlanta native Paige Ealy, dressed as Korra from Legend of Korra, knew how to get around it.
"We beat the traffic. We got here at about 7:30 in the morning," Ealy said.
She and Julian Anphy grabbed breakfast and hung out until Dragon Con started. However, they couldn't breeze through the lines inside. Visitors told 11Alice the wait was anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours.
"When we were standing for the artist alley, it just wrapped around the whole building and then wrapped inside," Anphy said.
The crowds got milder as the evening progressed. Many sports fans and costumes were exploring the city. McKinnon said it was a relief that first responders were visible.
"I appreciated the presence of the police and paramedics. You see people everywhere you go," McKinnon said.
Dragon Con and Atlanta's Global Black Pride continue on Sunday.
