ATLANTA — Georgia was recently named the third-best state for people to retire , according to a recent analysis.

Bankrate recently posted its rankings for the best and worst states for retirees.

Coming in the top five were:

1. Delaware

2. West Virginia

3. Georgia

4. South Carolina

5. Missouri

The worst five states for retirees, according to Bankrate are:

46. North Dakota

47. California

48. Washington

49. New York

50. Alaska

Bankrate's overall state rankings is based on five subordinate rankings: affordability, quality/cost of healthcare, wellbeing, weather and crime.

Georgia moved up significantly this year from being No. 15 last year due to decreased cost of living and insurance premiums, the article said.  Health care quality and cost slightly improved from 2023, but overall wellbeing and crime stayed poor, they say.
