ATLANTA — A new report released by GOBankingRates named Atlanta the city with the worst income inequality in the U.S.
They found that the bottom 20% in Atlanta earn an average income of $11,221 compared to $324,230 among the top 20%.
The report listed the 50 cities with the worst income inequality. None of the top 10 have a median household income above $100,000; Atlanta's is $77,655.
A total of four Georgia cities made the list.
Sandy Springs came in at No. 24 with a bottom 20% average income of $23,060, a top 20% average of $449,693 and a median household income of $93,303.
Macon landed at No. 30, with the bottom and top 20% averaging $8,117 and $202,311, respectively, and a median household income of $48,897.
Athens placed at No. 45, with the bottom 20% averaging $8,540 in income and the top 20% averaging $192,785. Their median household income is $47,798.
