ATLANTA — A local mom is ensuring that others in the community feel loved and supported during the holiday season by hosting a community baby shower in Atlanta.
11Alive first brought viewers this story in November when local mother of two, Brittany Samuels shared that she'd be rallying the community to shower moms-to-be with the necessities.
On Saturday, the Mom Dynasty Community Baby Shower kicked off at Oak Hill Child, Family and Adolescent Center in Atlanta.
“I have so much stuff our doors cannot shut," Ambriana Lamar, an expectant mom and one of the 42 participants in the event, said.
Organizers left no stone unturned, ensuring that no expense was spared for the event. Attendees were treated to new mama care packages containing items for both mother and baby.
“We’ve given them supplies, diapers, wipes," Samuels said, "We still have giveaways to do. They’re having fun. We’ve got music, they’re eating. They’re getting prenatal massages."
Aside from the tangible gifts, Lamar emphasized the lasting connections made during the event.
"They have told me their story; they don’t have family here," she said. "One girl just lost her job, so the fact that this community came together to support is amazing."
The event attracted several vendors, health providers, and educators, all contributing to its success.
“Everything is in fluctuation, so we’re here to support you and let you know that you have someone you can lean on," Capri Patrick from Milano Di Rouge, a luxury clothing brand, said. "We’re just here to support everyone in the community.”
Samuels said she hopes the event will become an annual tradition, bringing together the community in support of expectant mothers.
