GREENE COUNTY, Georgia — Funeral details have been announced for a Greene County firefighter who was killed in the line of duty last week.
The Greene County Board of Commissioners announced that Battalion Chief Chris Eddy died on Wednesday, Sept. 4
His service will be held this Sunday, September 8, at the Morgan County High School Gym.
Visitation starts at noon, and the funeral service will immediately follow at 3 p.m.
Gov. Brian Kemp confirmed during a news conference for the Apalachee High School shooting that Eddy died in an explosion. His death was not connected to the shooting.
Greene County Fire Rescue also posted about Eddy's death, asking the community for prayers.
"GCFR has no words right now," the department's post reads. "We are truly in disbelief."
