LULA, Ga. — Two men are in custody after police say they robbed a 15-year-old girl at gunpoint who was walking along the road near Lula.
Hall County Sheriff's deputies arrested the two men, identified as Martin Martinez Morales, 38, and Miguel Angel Martinez Morales, 30, both of Lula. Authorities said they assaulted the juvenile on Monday night just before 9 p.m.
According to a preliminary report, the two men in a pickup truck pulled alongside the girl. The driver allegedly made threatening statements and pointed a gun at her. As the victim tried to run, police say the truck pulled over in front of her.
Authorities said the men got out of the vehicle, grabbed the victim by her shirt, kicked her and threw her on the ground.
The girl eventually got away and was able to get help.
The two men were then reportedly spotted pulling from the driveway of a residence in the 6900 block of Wheeler Road. Deputies stopped the vehicle and detained them.
Following the initial investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, the two men in the truck were arrested and charged with armed robbery. Martin is also charged with aggravated assault and battery.
Investigators reportedly recovered the handgun from the suspects’ residence, which was the same location they were initially detained. The suspects are expected to face additional charges, authorities said.
The case remains under investigation by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
