Suspect captured in deadly shooting at MARTA Arts Center station

MARTA Police said Wednesday that 38-year-old Xavier Mosley faces charges including murder.

ATLANTA — MARTA Police said Wednesday that the suspect in a deadly shooting at the Arts Center Station on Sunday night has been captured.

Xavier Mosley, 38, faces charges including murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, MARTA Police said.

The victim in the shooting has still not been identified.

Officers responded at the Arts Center Station in Midtown about 9 p.m. on Sunday night, August 11. They found one man who had been shot multiple times and attempted medical assistance. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Mosley was identified as the suspect and warrants were issued for his arrest the next day. On Wednesday, MARTA Police said a search warrant was served at his residence in Atlanta and he was arrested and taken to Fulton County Jail.

“We appreciate our partnership with the Atlanta Police Department,” said MARTA Police Chief Scott Kreher in a release. “This is a great example of how local agencies collaborate to achieve the common goal of keeping our communities safe.”
