ATLANTA — Atlanta Police said they found a man shot to death near I-20 on Monday, adding to the count of rising violence on and near highways in the area.
On Tuesday, police said that there is still an active investigation, but identified the victim as 23-year-old Shymel Drinks.
They added that they are working to see if there was any video captured near the scene that might paint a better picture of what happened.
Officers said it all happened around 10 p.m. Monday night after a witness found a vehicle parked on Windsor Street underneath the I-20 overpass.
He was pronounced dead at the scene from apparent gunshot wounds, according to police, who added that there were multiple rounds fired through the vehicle.
No other injuries have been reported and police have not said whether or not they have a suspect. This marks just the second shooting near an interstate in the last week.
Atlanta Police are still asking anyone with information to contact them.
