Man, woman shot to death before DeKalb house went up in flames identified; suspect in custody: officials

The fire happened on Monday, Sept. 9, just before 1:30 a.m., when authorities reported heavy fire on Cohassett Lane.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A suspect is now in custody after two people were found shot to death in a burned DeKalb County home last week, according to authorities.

DeKalb County medical examiners identified the two victims as 28-year-old Brittany Hall and 35-year-old Derris Woods.

The fire happened on Monday, Sept. 9, just before 1:30 a.m., when authorities reported heavy fire on Cohassett Lane. When they arrived, the building was partially collapsed. 

DeKalb County firefighters found two people dead in the burned building. A week later, fire officials said the two victims -- a man and a woman -- died from gunshots before the fire happened.

Police announced on Facebook that a suspect had been arrested in Mississippi. No other details about the suspect were released.

DeKalb Fire said a neighbor called about a fire at a home on Cohassett Lane just before 1:30 a.m. on Sept 9.
