GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A 20-year-old man has now died days after a double shooting in a Gwinnett County driveway on Monday, according to police.
Authorities said they will now investigate the shooting as a homicide. Police said the suspect, identified as 43-year-old Terrance Washington, will now face murder charges.
The shooting happened on Tuesday night where 20-year-old Daqwayvious Kleckley and his mother were shot outside the home on Dayspring Trace. Officers responded to the home for a domestic dispute. When they arrived, they parked a few homes away. While walking up to the home, Gwinnett County Police officers reported hearing gunshots.
Law enforcement first reported that both the son and mother had "life-threatening injuries." In a Monday update, the department said Kleckley died almost a week after the shooting happened and his mother was still in the hospital.
Washington was taken into custody several hours after the shooting in Warner Robbins in connection to the shooting.
Detectives believe the suspect knew the two victims. They added the motivation behind the shooting appears to be domestic-related. The suspect had previously been in a relationship with the son's mother.
Washington now faces felony murder, malice murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and theft by taking charges.
