ROSWELL, Ga. — Police are investigating a suspicious death at the Atlantic Newtown Apartments on Nesbit Ferry Road in Roswell, according to police.
A maintenance worker found the woman's body around 10 a.m. Wednesday in the pool area on the deck and called 911. The woman appears to be in her late teens or early twenties, Roswell Police said.
Roswell Police Lt. Noah Caplin said the woman might be the same person who was reported missing from Johns Creek last night.
"Right now that is the preliminary thought, but we are still working to confirm that," Caplin said. He added that Johns Creek Police is assisting with the investigation. "The female is local, from somewhere in the north Fulton County area."
There are signs of trauma but police have not yet determined whether her death was the result of foul play. Caplin said it's unclear how long her body had been near the pool.
Detectives are canvassing the area looking for potential witnesses.
Terri Scott, who lives in the complex, said she has a teen daughter and the news that a body was found in that way is troubling.
"I can't believe that happened somewhere I live. I don't even have words, I'm so sorry to hear that," Scott said. "I pray for her family."
This is a developing story, check back for updates.
