FAIRBURN, Ga. — Police are trying to sort out the facts of what led to a shooting after the gunman claims he shot a man in self-defense.
It all unfolded Wednesday afternoon off Margaret Street near Fairburn.
According to Fairburn Police, a 36-year-old man was sitting inside his car on Margaret Street, talking to a 37-year-old who was standing outside of the car.
At some point, police said the two got into an argument and the 36-year-old shot the other man and drove off.
Police said first responders took the 37-year-old man to Grady Hospital for treatment; he was responsive when he was taken from the scene, police said.
Meanwhile, the 36-year-old called 911 near the intersection of South Fulton Parkway and Hwy 92 to report that he had shot a man.
Officers went to the scene and took him into custody.
Police are still investigating the situation, but said gunfire may have been exchanged between the two. However, the exact details of what happened are still unclear.
Meanwhile, police said they are not releasing the identities of the two men, pending further investigation and charging decisions.
